Close Thunderbird – software asks for saving unsaved changes in Lightning events – chossing "Save" does not really save

If you open and edit an event, and you don't save it (by e.g. pressing Ctrl+S or clickong on the "Save & Close" menu entry), and then attempt to close Thunderbird, a confirm dialog appears asking you whether you want to save the changes in the event before closing Thunderbird or not (or cancel closing Thunderbird). After clicking "yes", Thunderbird  closes, but after re-opening Thunderbird and then viewing the event, one can see that the last changes to the event have not been saved. They are just lost.

Works here in Local calendars with Lightning 5.4.1.1 and Thunderbird
52.1.1, using editing in a window.

Is this an edit event in a tab problem?

Sorry, I don't do network calendars.

What version of Thunderbird and Lightning do you use? Do you get any
errors in Tools - Error Console? Might be related to

Currently my TB version is 52.1.1 (32 bit), Lightning version is 5.4.1.1. With these versions I was not able to reproduce this behavior. I tried it with opening events in a separate window, changed the setting so that events are opened in tabs. Also, instead of closing Thunderbird by choosing "File>Close" in  TB's menu I tried right clicking on the entry in the windows taskbar and choosing "Close all windows" in the context menu. Every time – presumed I had unsaved changes in the event window) TB asked whether to save or not, and
if I chose "Save", the event was correctly saved.
